Wake Up Kentucky

Y’all, wake up, Kentucky, because it looks like you are in for a wild ride this weekend.

Winter Storm 2026 is being talked about everywhere, and I keep seeing predictions that some areas could get hit with significant snow. I am not going to lie, my mama heart is not okay right now. When I lived there, we never seemed to get anything like what they are warning about this time. Now I am sitting here worrying about my babies back home and all the worst-case scenarios that come with a big winter storm. Power outages. No heat. Roads you cannot safely drive on. No way to contact them when their phone batteries die. And that feeling of being stuck with nowhere to go if something happens.

If you are in Kentucky or anywhere in the path of this storm, please take it seriously and get ready now, just in case it overdelivers.

Here are a few simple things to do before the weather hits:

  • Charge phones and battery packs
  • Make sure you have flashlights and extra batteries
  • Have blankets and warm layers ready
  • Stock up on water and easy meals that do not require cooking
  • If you are in an area where pipes freeze, consider dripping faucets and opening cabinet doors under sinks
  • Stay off the roads once the snow and ice start, especially at night

And please keep checking your local forecasts because storms like this can shift. What looks like snow today can turn into ice tomorrow, and ice is what really causes trouble.

Now let me add my Florida update, because it is almost insulting. Florida will be 80 plus degrees all weekend. That is all.

Lets say a short prayer that everything goes better than expected, that everyone stays safe, and that the lights stay on.
