So… Is This Thing On?
Alright, friends, strangers, and that one loyal reader I hope isn’t just a bot from Estonia—let’s have a little chat.
You know how some people pick up yoga or sourdough breadmaking during hard times? Well, I picked up writing. Not just blog ramblings like this one (though, yes, hello, you’re welcome)—I actually started dabbling in short stories. Fictional ones. No scandalous tell-alls here… yet. (You’re safe, dear family. For now.)
It started when my sweet Nannie was sick. Writing gave me something to focus on besides the heartbreak—and let’s be honest, it also gave me something to do that didn’t involve crying in the kitchen or playing the same game on my iPad for hours. Bonus? Typing doesn’t hurt too much, so I can feel productive without yelling at my joints. Win-win.
Now, here’s the kicker: being productive does not equal getting paid. Like, at all. If productivity paid the bills, I’d be writing this from a yacht named “Plot Twist.” But alas, here I am—still landlocked and still broke.
Anyway! Here’s the big question: should I start sharing my stories with you lovely folks? Like, make a little Story Corner on the blog? A cozy little nook where fictional people do fictional things that may or may not be loosely based on real people who tick me off in parking lots?
Or is this whole blog just me talking to the internet void? A one-woman show with no audience? (Which honestly, is veryon-brand for me.)
So let me know, if you’re out there. Would you read my stories? Should I unleash them upon the world? Or should I just keep whispering them to myself like a Victorian ghost who never got published?
Until then, I’ll be here—typing, dreaming, and probably still broke.
