First Day of School… Florida Edition!

Today was a big day, y’all—the boys started school for the very first time here in sunny Florida! And get this… for the first time in their entire school careers, they don’t have to wear uniforms. Can I get a hallelujah? No more khaki and polo combos—it’s all about self-expression now.

Carson officially started high school today. Yep, my baby is 14 and a freshman. His new school is massive—over 2,000 students and FIVE separate buildings. The place is basically a small city. He was up at 5:00 a.m. (bless his heart) and out the door by 6:18 to catch the bus. He rolled into school at 6:48 and will be home around 2:00 p.m. This early bird schedule? I’m still processing it.

Now Quincy’s day is a whole different story. My little 3rd grader doesn’t even start school until 9:20 a.m., and he gets out at 3:50 p.m. And because his school is under two miles from our house, the district’s like, “Sorry, no bus for you.” Which means guess who’s gonna be racking up the steps? Yep, this mama! By noon today, I had already doubled my Move goal on my Apple Watch. And by pickup, I’ll be closing my rings like a champ.

The fact that their schedules are so wildly different blows my mind—but hey, maybe I’ll end up liking it. I mean, being up since 5 a.m. has already made me a cleaning machine. I scrubbed the stove top to bottom, did the dishes, swept the floors, and decluttered the counters. Basically, I turned into a full-on Real Housewife of Wesley Chapel (minus the glam squad).

Oh, and because I clearly wasn’t busy enough, I also did thirty full minutes of hula hooping this morning with my weighted hoop. Yes, thirty. I’ve got the sore hips to prove it. That’s right, your girl has a new fitness fad. Will it get me in shape? Who knows. Will I keep y’all posted? Absolutely.

Stay tuned—Florida school days have officially begun, and so has my daily cardio.
