Published Is Published (And I’m Not Calm About It)

Got my new prime lens last night—a 50mm—and let me tell you, I’ve been shooting everything in my line of sight for the last 12 hours. If it stood still long enough, it became a photo. I am officially obsessed. I cannot wait to get out this weekend and really put it to work.

So here’s the exciting part. I stumbled across a website where photographers can upload their work into a portfolio and submit photos for publication in magazines and similar outlets. Now, are these Vogue or People? No. But let’s be honest—published is published. And guess what? I’ve already had photos accepted twice. TWICE. I’m ridiculously proud of myself.

Once I get the tear sheets, I’ll share them here—and yes, I will absolutely be buying copies of each magazine, because… my photos are being published. I don’t make the rules.

We also survived the boys’ first half-week back at school, and thankfully it was pretty painless. A win is a win. And I got my X-rays done this morning, which means I might be one small step closer to answers. Maybe. Fingers crossed.

And just like that—nine days into the new year and I still haven’t missed a day. Look at me go.
