Harmony’s Grand Exit: Goose Eggs, Scooters, and a Whole Lotta Sass

Well, y’all, it’s official—Harmony has packed up her tiny suitcase, waved her little princess hand, and headed back home. The house is quieter now… too quiet. You know that kind of quiet where you’re not sure if you should enjoy it or start cleaning something just to fill the silence? Yeah, that kind.

We had ourselves one heck of a visit, though! That little firecracker had me running circles around my own house. Her favorite thing to say all week? “Ride MeeMaw’s scooter!” And buddy, when she said it, she meant business. She’d hop right on, wrap those little hands around the baby handle we added, and off we’d go—wind in our hair, probably breaking at least three HOA rules before breakfast. Every single morning, we rode to take Quincy to school, the two of us cruising like a couple of rebels on the suburban streets with Quincy in the front and PeePaw coming up behind us. I’m pretty sure the crossing guard now knows Harmony by name.

Saturday was the grand finale—Animal Kingdom day! And let me tell you, we were those people. Matching smiles, sticky fingers from snacks, and phones full of blurry photos because she never stopped moving long enough to take one that wasn’t action-shot quality. She was wide-eyed over every animal, every character, every cup of ice she could get her little hands on.

But of course, no trip with a toddler is complete without at least one dramatic moment. Ours came right at the end of the day when Miss Harmony decided to go full Olympic sprinter through the park. One wrong step later—BAM! She met the pavement with her forehead and came up with a goose egg the size of a golf ball. My heart stopped, her mommy and daddy turned pale, and she… well, she cried. The fact that she was completely exhausted had everything to do with that as well.

After that, she was back to her old self, and smiling like she hadn’t just scared 4 adults and 2 kids half to death.

Now that she’s gone, the living room looks like a daycare exploded—toys all over the table, a random pair of baby socks on the counter, snack packages all through the living room, and my scooter parked like it’s emotionally exhausted too. I keep expecting her to come around the corner hollering, “Ride MeeMaw’s scooter!” and honestly, I’d hop right back on in a heartbeat.

But alas, it’s time to get this house back in order, put things where they belong, and try to remember what a regular routine even looks like. The dishwasher’s running, the laundry’s spinning, and the quiet hum of “normal” is creeping back in.

We had a blast. My heart (and my camera roll) are full. And if you ask me, the goose egg just made the memories a little more legendary.

So here’s to Harmony’s visit—equal parts chaos and cuteness, laughter and Band-Aids, scooter rides and sticky kisses.

MeeMaw’s tired, but her heart? Completely melted. 💛
