Twistee Treat: Where Your Diet Goes to Die, and You Love Every Second of It

Have you ever experienced the pure joy of a Twistee Treat? If not, brace yourself. These iconic ice cream shops reside in what can only be described as a 25-foot-tall fiberglass temple of dairy deliciousness shaped like an actual ice cream cone. Honestly, if ancient civilizations had worshipped ice cream, Twistee Treat would be their pyramid. Now, most of these beauties are sprinkled across Florida like rainbow jimmies on a sundae, with a couple of rogue outposts in Texas (because Texas always has to be different). And let me tell you, their soft-serve is nothing short of life-changing. It’s like a cold, creamy hug for your soul.

The menu? Absolute chaos—in the best way. Brownie boats, milkshakes, soft-serve cones in every flavor imaginable… It’s the type of place that makes you question your life choices, but not enough to stop you from adding a second scoop. Or a third.

Just last night, we hit up the Wesley Chapel location for what I assured myself would be a “small treat.” HA! I ended up with the infamous brownie boat: three glorious scoops of velvety soft-serve, smothered in hot fudge, drowning in brownie chunks, and crowned with a cloud of whipped cream and three smug cherries. Basically, it was like a dessert yacht sailing straight into my bloodstream.

Could I have shared it? Sure. Did I? Absolutely not. I devoured that thing like I’d just emerged from a year-long dessert drought. I could practically hear my jeans weeping in the distance. Five pounds? Added directly to my hips. Worth it? Every. Single. Bite.

So, if you find yourself near a Twistee Treat, do yourself a favor: pull over, surrender to the cone-shaped beacon of joy, and grab a brownie boat. Just remember, sharing is optional, but regret is guaranteed if you skip dessert.

Smh, indeed.
