The Chaos of Packing—But This Time, a Brilliant Plan!
Packing. Ahhhhhh! Just the word alone makes my head spin. I’ll be the first to admit—I am the most unorganized person in the world. Every time we move, I swear it’ll be the last time because, honestly, I’m just not cut out for this.
But this time, something is different.
Right now, our house is a maze of numbered boxes, each one cataloged in an iPhone note with a list of what’s inside. Was this my genius idea? Not a chance! That credit goes to Michael, and I must say—it’s absolutely brilliant! Instead of digging through mystery boxes for days (or weeks), I’ll finally be able to find what I need without losing my mind. What a concept!
This move is different in another way too. We’re scaling down—less stuff, less space, less chaos. It’s just me, Michael, and our two youngest, and we simply don’t need as much as we used to. So why haul around things we’ll never use?
I learned something important while cleaning out Nannie’s house: so much of what I’ve kept over the years is no different from the things we’re tossing from her home—just junk. The sentimental clutter, the “I might need this one day” piles, the things I swore had value but really don’t. It’s eye-opening.
So, this time, I’m determined to do things differently. We’re packing smarter, keeping less, and embracing a fresh start. Let’s see if I can finally break my cycle of moving madness!
